Dangerous Sports Should Be Banned应当禁止危险运动

  When we speak of the ancient Romans, we can't help thrilling at the slaughter in their arenas which theytook as entertainment. Well, any way, this happened 2,000 years ago.But are modern people less blood-thirsty? Why do boxing matches attract such universal interest? Don't the spectators hope to see some violence. ?

  It is really incredible that in this age we should still allow hunting and bull-fighting, that we should beprepared to sit back and watch two men fight each other in a boxing ring, that we should be relatively unmovedby the sight Of one or a number of racing cars Crashing and bursting into flames. People take part in violent sports because of the high rewards they bring. Spectators are willing to pay vast sums of money to see violence. A lot of people are disappointed if a fight is over in two rounds instead of fifteen just because they have been deprived of the exquisite pleasure of witnessing prolonged torture and violence.

  Why should we ban violent sports since people enjoy them so much? The answer is simple, they are uncivilized.

  For centuries man has been trying to improve himself spiritually gress has been made m science and technology,social welfare systems are in operation in many parts, of the world, and big efforts have been made to increase public wealth.These changes have come about because human beings have taken positive steps to change and improve human civilization. If we banned dangerous and violent sports, we Would be moving one step further to improving mankind.

  In 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, Li Xiaopeng and his teammates were outstanding, winning gold in the prestigious men's team event, a first for China's gymnasts. Li Xiaopeng also won an inpidual gold medal in the parallel bars.

  However, due to a severe foot injury, Li's performance in 2004 Athens Olympic Games was unsatisfying. China finished 5th in the men's team final and Li only got a bronze in parallel bars after he had been unbeaten since 2000 in major competitions. Li Xiaopeng was tortured by a long-time ankle injury and eventually had an operation in 2005.

  In 2008, after suffering through yet another injury, this time in his toe, he came back to compete in the Chinese Nationals and took gold in parallel bars in two World Cups, thus surpassing Li Ning in the number of world titles.

  If Chinese men gymnastics can regain men's team event? If Li Xiaopeng will win his second personal Olympic gold medals? I hope so!
