　　当你老了，白发苍苍，睡意朦胧，

　　第一次读叶芝的《当你老了》，是袁可嘉的译本，很感动，原来爱是可以这样抒写的。

　　后来又找了很多人的译本，发现飞白的翻译韵律掌握得很好，比较符合原文的押韵风格，也更能表达叶芝的情感，意境上也更美，惟独“dream of the soft look your eyes had once，and of their shadows deep” 一句翻译得不够完美，尤其“dream of”翻译成“梦见”有些突兀。诗是假设茉德·冈年老时，在火炉旁回忆当年的情景，如果翻译成“梦见”，主体就发生了变化，让人感觉是作者梦见茉德·冈当年双眼中的柔美，前后主体的不一致，读起来很费劲儿。
